GREEK MEAT PIE

1 lb. ground beef chuck, lean

1 lb. ground lamb, lean

2 tablespoons olive oil

2 onions, chopped

1 1/2 teaspoons salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1 teaspoon oregano, crushed

1 cup tomato sauce

pinch of cinnamon

2 eggs, lightly beaten

1 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese

1/2 cup butter, melted

12 sheets Phyllo pastry

In a skillet, saute ground meat in olive oil with onions until browned. Season with salt, oregano and pepper. Add tomato sauce, cinnamon.

In a small bowl, beat eggs and stir in cheese. When ground meat has cooled, fold in the eggs and cheese mixture.

Butter a 9x13 inch baking pan. Arrange six sheets of Phyllo pastry on bottom of pan, buttering each sheet. Spread a layer of cooled meat mixture evenly on Phyllo. Cover with remaining six sheets, brushing each with melted butter.

Trim edges of Phyllo to fit pan with a sharp knife. Slice through top of pastry to form diamond shapes.

Bake in a preheated 350掳F oven until pastry is golden crisp.

May be served hot or cold.Anybody have some good meat-pie recipes?
i dont cook but that sounds good right nowAnybody have some good meat-pie recipes?
You can't beat Beef and Ale pie, very easy, fry onion and garlic until slightly brown, remove from pan, brown beef cubes, put onions back in pan and add loads of button mushrooms, brown for a further few minutes, then add 2 or 3 beef stock cubes, a good bottle of ale, carrots if you like, a dash of worcester sauce, some bay leafs and i always add a teaspoon of marmite, cook down for a good 2-3 hours so the meat is falling apart and the sauce is reduced and then top with puff pastry and cook in the oven, yummy making me hungry now
Here is one:

Jamie's Cheeseburger Pie

Recipe courtesy Paula Deen

1 pound lean ground beef

1/2 cup sweet onions, preferably Vidalia onion

1 tablespoon steak seasoning (recommended: Montreal)

1 tablespoon steak seasoning sauce (recommended: Dale's Steak Seasoning Sauce)

5 slices cheese, preferably American, Swiss, or sharp Cheddar

1 sheet frozen puff pastry dough*

1 egg yolk

*Frozen puff pastry dough should sit at room temperature for about 20 minutes.

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F and preheat the grill.

Mix the ground beef, onion, steak seasoning, and seasoning sauce together (using your hands is the most efficient way to do this). Form into 5 small flat patties. Grill the hamburgers to medium-well. (You may also pan-fry the patties.) Remove from the grill and top each burger with a slice of cheese of your choice.

Roll the puff pastry sheet to flatten slightly. Cut it into 5 relatively even rectangles.

Cover each burger with a piece of puff pastry and wrap it around the bottom, pinching all of the edges to seal. Place on an un-greased baking sheet, pinched side down.

Whish together the egg yolk and 1 teaspoon water to make an egg wash. Brush each wrapped pastry with the egg wash. Bake for about 15 minutes, until the puff pastry is nice and brown.
